Sweet sole music...

MIDI Bass Pedals are not just for keyboard players and organists; many other musicians can benefit from this extra velocity-sensitive MIDI controller.

Generally playing a musical instrument keeps the musicians hands busy, but in many cases, the feet are rarely used. So instead of just idly tapping your left foot to tempo, why not control another musical part with it?

Connect the K8 MIDI pedal board to any MIDI sound generator i.e. Keyboard or expander, and you could be playing the bass, or any other part along with your usual instrument. Note that the pedals themselves make no sound at all, they just tell your sound generator what notes you play and when. The actual sound is made by your sound generator, so that is the sound you will hear.

While a bass sound is probably the most useful, why limit yourself? Connect a K8 MIDI pedal board to the Ketron XD3 and have the control of a complete backing orchestra at your fingertips – or rather – Foot!

You don’t even need to be a good pedal player, you just press the pedal that represents the chord you need i.e. "E major" chord = E pedal. The XD3 will hold the chord, so you can get your foot ready over the next chord you need. Chord modes (minor, 7th etc) are changed using a special volume pedal with four mode switches. No matter what instrument you play, if you have a spare foot, you could be playing a complete orchestra as well.

Perhaps you replaced your old two manual organ with a small keyboard, but now miss playing the bass yourself. As the K8 is a MIDI pedal board, just connect it up to your MIDI keyboard and you’re back in business, but this time you’ll have the extra advantage of velocity (touch) sensitive bass pedals.

The K8 MIDI pedal board transmits MIDI on any selected MIDI channel from 1 through to 13. To select a channel press the MIDI channel button, then press a pedal. C = Channel 1, C# = Channel 2 etc. (default = channel 2)

Further controls are transpose (not a good idea if you play by ear), but you can use this to shift an octave up. An optional sustain pedal can be used, but you have probably run out of feet by now! If you need a little bass sustain, connect an SP 1 pedal but select the wrong polarity - this way sustain operates without the pedal being pushed.

Complete with power supply.

Dimensions (approx): 560mm wide, 450mm deep, 110mm high
