Plugstation - up to four synths in one box

Become a PLGenius - and use up to four of Yamaha's amazing synth-on-a-card PLG cards in one unit - giving you the possibility of thousands of different sounds at your fingertips.

The amazing Kenton Plugstation is a 1U rackmount unit that allows you to use & control up to four Yamaha ‘Modular Synthesis Plug In System’ PLG cards simultaneously, either as a standalone module or with the option to connect to an SW1000XG soundcard.

To correct a popular misconception, connection to an SW-1000XG card is NOT REQUIRED for ANY of the models, but is only an OPTIONAL additional facility on the two versions which include the ‘X card’.

Plugstation + Y =

Standalone system (no SW-1000XG card required)

You DO NOT need an SW-1000XG card to use this version of Plugstation.
This standalone version includes an onboard 4 x stereo 24-bit audio output card, to allow PLG cards to be routed to individual outputs for connection to your existing mixer. This configuration allows you to connect any MIDI keyboard or sequencer to Plugstation via its MIDI IN connection, and use it as a super expandable tone module. Mix and match up to four PLG cards in your Plugstation with ease. An Adat output is also included on the audio card as an extra bonus.

Plugstation Operational Cards explained

    X

PLG size breakout card for the SW1000XG - This card attaches to the SW1000XG instead of a PLG card, providing a docking point for the supplied cable to connect Plugstation to your SW1000XG soundcard.

    Y

Eight analogue audio output card - This internal card for Plugstation has eight onboard 24 bit resolution D to A converters to provide individual analogue stereo audio outputs from each PLG card. This card enables Plugstation to be used as a standalone module. Includes adat output.

    Z

Digital routing card - This internal card for Plugstation allows the digital outputs from the DS2416 connector on the SW1000XG to be routed to the 8 audio outputs on Plugstation’s Y card above. (DS2416 can still be used too). X & Y cards must already be present in system for Z to function.

The above cards do not use Plugstation’s PLG slots. Up to four Yamaha PLG cards may be fitted in any Plugstation configuration.
