NEW REVISED PRODUCT PRO-Solo MkII MIDI-CV converter

What do MIDI-CV Converters do?

In order to control pre-MIDI synthesisers from a modern MIDI instrument or sequencer, you need to change the digital MIDI messages into the kind of signals the pre-MIDI synth can understand.

The PRO-SOLO MkII is designed to control one monosynth and features a single CV & Gate output, fully programmable auxiliary CV output and 1 LFO. Editing is easy with its LED display and non-volatile setup memory. Can also be used as a Sync 24 and arpeggio clock converter.

What's new or different about the MkII?

  • Now runs from standard 9 volt power supply - centre positive
  • MIDI THRU socket can be switched to become DIN SYNC or AUX 2 & 3
  • Portamento - new fixed time mode as well as existing fixed rate
  • Auto Portamento mode selectable (where legato playing turns on Portamento)
  • LFO sync point can be selected
  • LFO to CV controller now has Min, Max and Reset values
  • LFO to Aux controller now has Min, Max and Reset values
  • Key-on can reset LFO
  • All parameters are controllable in real-time by SysEx
  • Aux1 output can output clock at 1 to 12, 24, or 48 clocks per quarter note
  • Din sync and clock can be used at the same time as CV and Gate outputs
  • Can control all 5 connections of a TB-303 5 Socket upgrade at the same time
  • Display now uses all three digits to display numbers
  • Box now an attractive cobalt blue colour

Whereas Aux1 is continuously variable and can be controlled from a wide variety of sources, Auxes 2 & 3 can output only 0 or 5 volts (split at data value 64) and can only be controlled by continuous controllers (CCs). When Aux 2/3 mode is selected, the thru socket pins 1 and 3 become auxes 2 & 3. You will need a 5 pin Din to 2 jacks cable to make use of Auxes 2 & 3. This mode was introduced mainly for the Accent and Slide inputs of our 5 Socket upgrade for the TB-303, allowing the Pro-SOLO mkII to control all 5 inputs at the same time.

Socket upgrades for Analogue Synthesisers

For those monosynths without the necessary inputs, Kenton have a range of Socket upgrades to enable you to add those all-important CV, Gate & Filter sockets and sometimes a few others too. We can fit such sockets for you or, alternatively, supply a kit of parts and instructions. Please look at our Socket upgrades page for further information and our MIDI to CV information page which shows some typical examples of using our MIDI to CV converters with some popular synths.
